Η new IC solution is certified EMVCo and Common Criteria Evaluation Level (CC EAL) 6+. It also operates according to its latest specifications Mastercard Biometric Evaluation Plan Summary (BEPS) for biometric payment cards.
The new security IC combines three basic functions integrated into a single chip:
- Reads biometric information via a fingerprint sensor
- Saves and verifies encrypted data with SE which is not violated
- Analyzes and processes data with a secure processor.
Samsung claims that S3B512C can help card manufacturers reduce the number of chips required and optimize procedures for biometric payment cards.
Biometric authentication eliminates the need for input PIN and prevents fraudulent transactions, as it verifies the identity of the cardholder using a unique and securely stored fingerprint.
«The encrypted fingerprint data of the solution is stored in a SE that has received global certifications, such as EMVCo and CC EAL 6+", Reports the Samsung in the press release.
The new IC comes with a unique fingerprint authentication algorithm and a secure processor that extracts and analyzes the unique features of the fingerprint placed on the sensor.
In addition, anti-chip technology prevents unauthorized users from bypassing the security system with illegal methods, such as fingerprints.
