Samsung Display: New product line for OLED panels in notebooks

Η Samsung Display intends to launch a new production line for OLED display panel in a notebook, which will be housed at its A4 factory in North Korea.

According to his report TheElec, the new production line will have a capacity of 30 thousand substrates every month. These will be responsible for production Medium-sized OLED display panel which will be in range between 18 and 20 inches and will target the laptop market. For now, the whole design has been labeled internally as N Project.

Η Samsung Display is expected to start ordering the equipment needed for the new panel production line OLED, this summer. This equipment will be installed on the new production line by the end of the year or the beginning of 2022. Since the company is already producing OLED panel for notebook, it will not take her long to pick up production rates once the new production line is ready the equipment is installed.

This move symbolizes the development of the company towards IT products to meet the growing demand, especially for laptops, due to the COVID pandemic which has increased the market for PCs for teleworking and distance learning purposes. Last month, the Samsung Display announced that it intended to launch over 10 new types of OLED panels for notebooks within this year, as it expects its sales to increase fivefold.
