If you like curved screens, then the Samsung prepares a surprise for CES this year, with two curved gaming monitor models, which will have a curve 1000R.
Η Samsung says the new gaming screens, called Odyssey, are innovative because of a combination of features. Three new screens have been unveiled, such as Odyssey G9 49 inches as well as models Odyssey G7 32 inch and 27 inches.
Samsung says they are characterized by "extremely deep curvature" and are the first to ever have a "high quality ”curved screen, 1000R, with QLED image."
To take an extra look at the size of the screen curve, see the photo below:
Samsung has been certified for monitors by the international certification body TÜV Rheinland with certifications for 1000R curvature and ease of use. The screens also feature a refresh rate of 240hz (Samsung refers to it as RapidCurve 240hz), a response time of 1ms, Nvidia G-Sync and compatibility for Adaptive Sync. They should therefore offer a fantastic gaming experience when combined with a suitably fast gaming platform.
The 9-inch screen of the G49 is also considered the first Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD) ultra-wide screen, which offers a resolution of 5,120-on-1,440. The aspect ratio is 32: 9, the maximum brightness is 1000cd / m2 and supports HDR1000. And while you will not spend much time looking at the back of the screen, Samsung has incorporated a "futuristic bright core of infinite glow". It covers up to 52 different colors and has five different lighting effects.
The G7 models are a bit more minimal, with QHD 16: 9 resolution 2.560 × 1.440, HDR600 and a brightness of 350cd / m2. But they retain all the other features of the G9, including the curvature of the 1000R. The other main difference is the color of the case, with the G7 remaining matte black, while the G9 is glossy white.
Both models will be available in the second quarter of 2020, and yes, you can mount them on the wall if you wish. Their price has not yet been revealed.
