Samsung seems to be preparing the release of the 980 PRO at a very fast pace, according to a post in a Korean service.
ΓFor a month, however, Samsung was rumored to be still keeping its cards closed, regarding the next generation of high-speed NVMe SSDs of. By name 980 PRO the next gen SSD of the Korean company will be on the market soon enough, according to sources, while it will be fully compatible with the standard PCI-Express Gen 4 offering fairly high read and write speeds.
The model has also appeared in some exhibitions such as the last one CES, with the company outlining its specs, such as a new design NAND flash memories but also a modern controller, compatible with the latest standard NVMe with speeds 6500MB / s and 5000MB / s for reading and writing respectively.
Just a few days ago the drive seems to have passed the tests of a Korean service, which certifies that the drive complies with market standards and can be released normally.
For the time being, the only platforms that can support similar speeds are its own AMD, where they have the channel PCIe Gen 4, while at Intel we will see the model appear towards the end of the year with the release of Rocket Lake-S processors, for the LGA 1200 socket and Z490 chipset.
