Huawei: It is now in danger of complete paralysis after its exclusion by Arm.

Η Huawei is now in danger with complete paralysis after its exclusion from ARM, after it will run out of Soc and processors for its products.

ΤThe BBC published an article this morning, in which it claims that Arm has "suspended cooperation" with Huawei and its subsidiaries. If this is true, then it would be a huge setback for Huawei in its hardware development efforts, as the company relies heavily on Arm for its products.

According to a BBC News article, Arm is severing ties with Huawei, with the company instructing its employees not to provide support, upgrades (via software code, or other updates), but not to participate. in technical discussions with Huawei, HiSilicon or any other Huawei subsidiary.

Huawei, for its part, is one of Arm's top customers and a close partner in its ecosystem, building countless Arm devices this year. The company is a pioneer in the manufacture of Arm CPUs and GPU IP, and in recent years Huawei has integrated into its devices, all the latest series of Arm Cortex-A.

In addition, through HiSilicon, Huawei makes extensive use of the ARMv8 CPU architecture in its SmartPhone through the Kirin Soc. As a result of their close partnership with Arm, Huawei has built up a significant portion of its product portfolio around Arm technologies, including Kirin SoCs and Kunpeng SoCs server. Thus, its cut from Arm will touch almost every aspect of Huawei hardware, from smartphones to networking systems.

Arm, meanwhile, is based in the United Kingdom, not the United States. However, as a multinational company, Arm is developing its technology around the world, including major design centers in San Jose and Austin. As a result, according to the report, Arm has considered its designs to contain "US-origin technology", and is therefore blacklisted by US technologies.

What is less clear, however, is how much Huawei will be affected by the suspension of cooperation with Arm and how soon. The BBC article shows that the suspension with Arm is just a matter of developing new technologies, and that Huawei will be able to continue to use current technology - including chips that have been developed and marketed this year. .

In this case, Huawei would not immediately feel the impact of the termination of cooperation with Arm, if of course it has secured a large stock of material in its warehouses.

For now, the full consequences for Huawei will largely depend on how long it stays on the US technology blacklist.

Either way, things are gradually taking a turn for the worse for Huawei, and it is very difficult to predict under these circumstances whether it will be able to deal with all these fronts that have been opened against it.

We are waiting for more information, but also for the reaction that Huawei will have in some of its next announcements.
