RedMi Note 8 Pro: The teardown of the device confirms Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Today the Redmi has published one teardown of the device, which confirms its support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 at least.

Tο Notes redmi 8 Pro released in parallel with Redmi Note 8, the laptop RedmiBook 14 PRO and RedMi TV at 70 inches, at an event held yesterday in China

While the leaks, but also the various Teaser that had been published by Redmi, had practically confirmed most of the features of the device long before its release, such as the MediaTek G90T SoC, Xiaomi still had some surprises to show us.

An amazing announcement was that the Redmi Note 8 Pro would not only support MediaTek Pump Express fast charging, but also support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology, Quick Charge 4 + as well as USB Power Delivery.

So today Redmi has published one teardown of the device , which confirms support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 at least.

One of the slides shown at the device launch event said that the RedMi Note 8 Pro will support a number of fast charging protocols, and will be compatible with a number of top chargers. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has the new MediaTek Helio G90T SoC, at which point MediaTek was expected to support Pump Express technology. Pump Express 4.0 is also compatible with USB Power Delivery 3.0.

The amazing thing about the announcement was the mention of fast charging by Qualcomm, in the form of Quick Charge 3.0 and Quick Charge 4+. This meant that additional hardware would be needed within the device to support these solutions. Fortunately, Redmi has published a teardown of the Redmi Note 8 Pro that partially confirms these claims.

In the image above, you can locate the Qualcomm SMB1351 the which is responsible for Quick Charge 3.0. This means that the Redmi Note 8 Pro contains the necessary hardware to activate this standard at least despite the different SoC that the device has. This also means that Xiaomi will have to support this IC with related changes to the kernel and ROM.

However, we could not find any material that would explain the allegations in support of Quick Charge 4+. The phone would have to be integrated with either the ICQ Qualcomm SMB1380 or SMB1381 to support this new technology.

We can not explain this discrepancy at this stage, but we hope that Xiaomi will clarify this issue.
