Qualcomm: Snapdragon X65 Modem officially unveiled today - the first 5G modem to support 10Gbps speeds

Qualcomm has officially announced the new generation 5G modem-RF system called Snapdragon X65.

ΑWhat makes the new Modedm stand out is the fact that it is the first 5G modem in the world to break the speed barrier of 10Gbps, but also the first certified 3GPP modem with 16pl RF antenna. For now, of course, in real conditions no one even touches 1Gbps, but that's another story.

The CEO of the company, Mr. Christian Amon, stated that it includes the new 545 mmWave antenna module which also supports the new frequency range n259 (41GHz), while using Artificial Intelligence technology to enhance the signal by recognizing where the user's hand is (eg if it covers the antenna).

Other interesting technologies of Snapdragon X65 are PowerSave 2.0 and Smart Transmit 2.0, with the former promising better energy management and the latter concerning speed improvements upload.

Note that the new is intended for wider commercial use Snapdragon x62 5G modem, which we will see in devices at the end of 2021, so we still have a long time ahead of us for speeds 10Gbps on smartphones...
