At the same time, he noted that "many large companies providing services in the field of social media are used by governments of unfriendly countries as a tool to put pressure on the Russian media."
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on the representative of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) to assess the blocking of Russia Today's Facebook accounts.
In the same statement, he described as "unacceptable the situation when the Facebook address blocks accounts in an authoritarian and opaque manner, violating the generally accepted principles of freedom of expression and equal access to information."
Earlier, RT director Margarita Simonyan had stated that Facebook had blocked the page of one of the TV channel's programs.
The program In the Now, the pages of which were blocked, is presented by the TV presenter of the channel Anissa Nowai, while the videos have 2,5 billion views.
RT alleges that its pages were blocked following a request from CNN, which accused RT of "hiding its links with the Kremlin."
