The Nearby Share will be available through Chrome on all computers available, ie on Windows, MacOS, Linux and ChromeOS.
ΈOne of the great advantages of Apple's ecosystem is the ability to easily transfer files from one device to another through the AirDrop. Despite the efforts of smartphone makers, no application has been able to reach the level of Apple, with Google finally giving its own solution for Android.
Apple's big advantage over the development of AirDrop is that it has complete control over all of its devices, unlike Google, which has a minimal percentage of PCs other than Android. But Google wants to reverse these statistics, based on its high percentage in browsers.
According to a Chrome Gerrit bug, Nearby Share will be available through Chrome on all PCs available, namely Windows, MacOS, Linux and ChromeOS. This means that even if a user has a MacBook, they will be able to share their files easily with an Android smartphone, something that was impossible until now.
The Nearby Share feature is already available on Android 11 Beta devices, but is not yet available for Chrome browser. Nearby Share will replace all similar efforts made to date by companies such as Samsung and Huawei and will be available through Google Play Store.
