It has been known since last December that Microsoft is rebuilding the Edge browser, this time based on the Chromium project.

Naturally, two camps were created: those that welcome the shift to Chromium, which will make the Edge browser even more functional and harmonized in modern times, and those that speak of a Google monopoly (see Mozilla).
From our point of view, that of the end user, we are more interested in whether a new pole will be created in the web browsers market (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, Safari) and whether we will like the result, especially from the moment that the Edge browser comes built into Windows 10.
A first look, however, can be taken from the hands-on made by the Neowin website in the new version of the Edge browser. Microsoft has been working on it for months, leaving open two channels that are updated daily (Canary) and weekly (Dev).
In terms of design, the new Microsoft Edge based on Chromium does not bring major changes. There is the addition of some classic features of the Chrome browser, such as the user's profile picture on the right and the packaged extensions.
The default search engine is Bing and the background when you open a new tab can change with the image of the day if the user wishes. By scrolling down, news from the Microsoft News service appears and there is the possibility to customize the type of news according to your preferences.
In addition, Microsoft intends to maintain its own store to add extensions, with the majority of the latter being reprogrammed in relation to how they appear in the Chrome Web Store. However, it will be possible to install extensions directly from the Chrome Web Store.
Regarding the settings, the new Edge will display the menu with a slide-out from the right, but also through a new tab, as in the Chrome browser. The user will see the logged in Microsoft account and all the options they know from Chrome.
It is not known when we will see the final version of the new Microsoft Edge, but most likely we will find out at the BUILD 2019 conference.
