This chipset is made with technology in 7nm, and is the first in a row Dimensity 700 which will also target a mid-range smartphone with 5G support. In terms of 5G capabilities, the Dimensity 720 provides support for SA and NSA networks, as well as connectivity sub-6Ghz. But do not expect support at mmWave from this processor.
As is well known, the use of 5G networks requires more power consumption compared to 4G, but according to Mediatek, it uses the technology MediaTek 5G UltraSave to reduce power consumption and provide more battery life.
What else does the Dimensity 720 have?
The new Dimensity 720 is equipped with eight cores (2x Cortex-A76 and 6x Cortex-A55) and Mali-G57 MC3 for graphics. This means you have two fewer heavy-duty CPU cores and fewer shader cores for the GPU compared to the Dimensity 820 used in its series. Redmi 10X .
The new processor also supports one APU specialized in machine learning tasks, and can support monitors FHD + at 90Hz, single cameras in 64MP, dual cameras in combination 20MP + 16MP and video recording in 4K.
Also, in addition to the above the new Dimensity 720 provides content support HDR10 +, Wi-Fi 5 (unfortunately there is no support in Wi-Fi 6), Bluetooth 5.1 , memory RAM LPDDR4X and storage UFS 2.2.
The new chipset will be available in the "coming months" and it is not yet certain whether it will provide support for dual SIM 5G + 5G.
