In the middle of his pandemic COVID-19The LG Electronics announced it will transfer some of its TV production chains to Indonesia, in order to increase its production capacity.
ΈAs part of this strategy, LG will relocate some of its currently operating plant to Gumi, South Korea (two of the six production lines), to Cibitung, Indonesia.
In this way Cibitung will become the new regional hub of the company in this area. It is worth noting that Gumi will continue to be the center of research and testing of the company, for the most efficient manufacturing processes.
The move is expected to boost the efficiency of LG TVs worldwide, with Gumi maintaining quality control and research processes.
In addition, the company also said that this move is part of a broader reorganization to redefine LG's manufacturing strategy to better align with the catering needs of each geographically independent region, and with this way the company will be able to better supply consumers in Asia and Australia.
However, the company's move does not affect the European market, and the largest European market will continue to be supplied by the plant located in Mlawa, Poland, while the company's plants in Reynosa and Mexicali in Mexico will be the main source of supply. of LG TVs for North America.
According to the company, its facilities at Cibitung will be upgraded with advanced automation in all production chains, which will include the assembly, quality control and packaging of televisions, monitors and digital technology products.
With the expansion and upgrade of LG's plant in Cibitung, Indonesia, the company is expected to increase annual TV productivity by up to 50 percent.
