There is a chance to shut down Facebook and Instagram in Europe, if she Meta fails to process European data on US servers.

Ο Mark Zuckerberg and his team seem to be considering it to shut down Facebook and Instagram in Europe, if she Meta fails to process European data on their servers USA.

But what does that mean?

if she Meta does not have the option to transfer, store and process data from its European users on US-based servers, the Facebook and Instagram may close across Europe, the social media owner warned in his annual report.

The key issue for Meta transatlantic data transmissions, regulated by the so-called protection shield and other models used by Meta to storage of data by European users on US servers. Current agreements to facilitate data transfer are currently under strict EU control.

In its annual report to US Capital Market Commission, Meta warns that unless a new framework is adopted where the company will be allowed to use the current agreement standards "or alternatives", The company "ratherWill no longer be able to offer its 'most important products and services', including Facebook and InstagramIn EU, according to various media, such as iTWire, the newspaper The Guardian and Side Line Magazine.

Meta, however, claims that in no case does it want, nor does it have any plan to leave Europe.

The exchange of data between countries and regions is vital for the provision of its services, says Meta.

So far, the Meta used the transatlantic data transfer framework called the Personal Data Protection Shield as the legal basis for the data transfer.

This condition annulled by the European Court of Justice in July 2020, due to data protection violations. Since then, the EU and US working on a new or updated version of the treaty.

In addition to the privacy shield, Meta also uses the so-called model agreements or Typical conventional clauses, as the main legal basis for processing of data by European users on US servers.

These model agreements are equally under their control Brussels and other EU members.

Meta's answer

By no means do we want to convey that we recommend for the mother to be inactive, what happens is that Meta, like many other companies, organizations and services, relies on data transfers between EU and USA to operate some global services.

Like other companies, we have followed the European rules and rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, but also on the necessary data safeguards for the operation of a global service.

Businesses essentially need clear, global rules to protect transatlantic data flows in the long run, and like more than 70 other companies across a wide range of industries, we are closely monitoring the potential impact on our European operations as these developments proceed., reports Meta.

The case of Ireland

Η Irish Data Protection Commission told Meta August of 2020 that he had provisionally concluded that the use of the standard agreements was not in accordance with General Regulation on Data Protection (GDPR).

The processing of European data on US servers therefore had to be suspended by Irish Data Protection Commission. However, this was only a preliminary conclusion, so, in fact, no change occurred.

The company appealed to the court to stop the order, but the judges ruled that its investigation Irish Data Protection Committee could continue.

The final verdict is expected to be published in the first half of this year. If the Irish Data Protection Commission does find that the model agreements are illegal, the Meta can decide that it is no longer possible to offer some of its services across the EU.

In the case of Ireland, Clegg he said:

Η Irish Data Protection Commission has started research for controlled by Facebook data transfer between the EU and the US and suggested that the standard contractual clauses (SCC) can not in practice be used for data transmissions EU-US.

Although this approach is subject to a further process, if followed, it could have consequences for companies based on SCC and online services that many people and businesses rely on.

Such a situation may seem to many as "take a nap" and "get well capitalist cuckold" but no one realizes the terrible implications that will have in the business world.
Such an event would ditch hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises and unimaginably boost large multinationals leading to dangerous monopolies. But no, ugh ugh snort snort, "let's throw the bad capitalist zook on the ground."
No, I do not take the joke with anyone, but for those of us who do not want to be employees for a lifetime and worship Monday-Friday each boss and the SK to make a proletarian revolution in starbucks, the zook has given two very good tools to compete the big multinationals and to have an opportunity to do our own small-medium business without having to pay extortionate amounts in advertising and promotion so that the multinationals do not swallow us. Did you understand lentils proletarians?

At the moment, social media is a field leveling factor in the advertising and promotion of small and medium enterprises. It gives their owners an opportunity to promote them without having to spend astronomical sums for advertising in print, television, radio and other media (emphasis on "Mass").

So if what these two assholes dream of becomes a reality, only the companies that will have the financial ability to set up a website will survive. And the price of websites will go to hell because it will be the only marketing medium as it was from the mid 90ies to the mid '00s.

Even worse, a GDPR 3 will put even more hand on commercial businesses significantly hurting the profitability and wealth creation of commercial enterprises at all levels while the already abusive personal data companies (such as hospitals and insurance companies) will not even be touched ( interest).

And all this for information that does not harm the citizen, whose privacy has already been violated many times by the state itself, insurance companies and banks. To me, GDPR2 and possibly GDPR3 is a very demagogic policy that dangerously flirts with the fascism and totalitarianism we have seen in communist / National Socialist regimes.

The GDPR is a catastrophic failure, yet another example of how much political rubbish has penetrated the European Parliament. The GDPR could have remained in consumer protection from intrusive advertising but not only did it not stay there, but also especially after Brexit, it failed miserably.
