So Xiaomi seems to have a clever new idea which it has filed for a new patent it recently filed. Xiaomi's new idea is to insert the front camera not under the screen, but in the extremely narrow Bezels of the front, thus avoiding the ugly holes and Notch on the screen of the devices.
This time, however, there will be a difference. At the top will be placed the only camera lens without the sensor. The sensor will be placed at a lower point behind the back of the screen, and the image produced by the lens will be channeled to the sensor via a special optic nerve (rather an optical fiber).
This patent was filed by Xiaomi a year ago, and approved by the European Patent Office and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on June 2 and 3, respectively.
In the 14-page document submitted entitled "Camera lens behind a mobile terminal screen, attached to the front with a light guideDescribes a Xiaomi smartphone that incorporates a selfie camera in the screen bezel, which is divided into three independent sections.
- The lens that will be placed on the crown of the upper part
- The optical guide (obviously some optical fiber) that will carry the image
- The sensor that will be placed in a different place
We do not know what the impact on photo quality will be with this new technology, but it is expected to have less negative effects than the UDC camera, and it remains to be seen if Xiaomi will soon apply it to a new Smartphone.
