Η UL Benchmarks accuses OPPO of "tricking" the Find X and F7 into achieving higher performance in the 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme benchmark program, with the company deleting devices from the popular benchmark scoreboards.
Synthetic benchmarks rarely show the performance of smartphones in their actual use, especially when manufacturers intervene and "tease" their devices in order to achieve better results. After Huawei, Samsung, OnePlus and other companies, comes OPPO which was "caught" having affected the performance of Find X and F7, as a result of which they were removed from the list of 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme, according to what the company stated UL Benchmarks which is responsible for this benchmark app.
The company states that after detailed checks made on the two smartphones, they "ran" a private version of 3DMark and not the one in the Play Store, with the performance in the private version being 41% lower than those of the public version, showing that OPPO uses some kind of software that recognizes when the device is "running" a benchmark app and does a kind of overclocking in order to achieve high performance in these tests.
When UL Benchmarks contacted OPPO, they replied that "when the user activates a game or a 3D Benchmark app that requires high performance, we enable the processor to increase the speed to its maximum potential for a smoother user experience" . This led the company to remove Find X and F7 from the list of smartphones tested on 3DMark, something that was expected to happen.
