Germany threatens to blow up Facebook's economic miracle.

A European station decision was recently made in Germany and threatens to demolish Facebook's commercially successful model, and the amendment passed by the Germans hits the colossus in its commercial heart.

ΟThe Germans are calling for the media to make drastic changes to the way it collects data on its 32 million users in the country, the very way it makes money!

Germany's anti-monopoly regulator is urging Facebook to stop forcing users to collect, manage and cross-reference their data with offline sources.

Resources, such as WhatsApp and Instagram applications, owned by Facebook, but also third-party companies and partner parties that have functions on their websites such as the "share" button.

Facebook is expected to appeal the decision, saying it has complied with the new European standards for the protection of personal data (GDPR), only that the German antitrust regulator Bundeskartellamt has taken the matter very seriously.

The ultimatum he sent to Facebook is clear: stop accumulating the sensitive information of our citizens! The decision was not instantaneous, as Germany has been investigating the matter for the last 3 years. And so he was able to declare that "we imposed extensive restrictions on Facebook in the management of user data."

The Bundeskartellamt demands that the social network change the terms of its policy to make it easier for German users to stop looting their sensitive information. He demands it for one more reason: because the incredible degree to which he collects data from everywhere is an abuse of his market leadership.

"In such a difficult situation," he told relevant press release the president of the regulatory authority, Andreas Mundt, "the choice of the user can not be considered as voluntary consent".

But what does Facebook do with the abysmal pool of data it collects? He employs her to direct advertising with unprecedented efficiency. And 99% of last year's revenue ($ 55,8 billion) came from its advertising platforms!

That's why the historic decision affects the business model of the network itself. If Germany's intervention proves effective in safeguarding personal data, then its example is expected to be followed by other European countries.

Facebook executives said they were simply gathering the data to offer better services to users, but also to protect them from contact with obscene content and. Election interference.
