A very interesting news emerged after its presentation yesterday Honor X10 5G, in the context of the press conference given by the president of the company, Mr. Zhao Ming.
Σwhen asked about the possibility of using its 5G processors MediaTek, Mr. Ming confirmed the good cooperation of Honor with the Taiwanese manufacturer of chipsets and therefore does not rule out seeing Honor smartphones with its own processors.
So far MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 1000 and Dimensity 820 series to meet the 5G needs of the high-end and mid-range categories, at a significantly lower cost compared to Qualcomm chipsets.
Given that Huawei will have a hard time meeting demand for Kirin SoCs due to the recent decision of Donald Trump, then a turn to MediaTek, at least for Honor smartphones, will not come as much of a surprise.
Despite the confirmation of Mr. Zhao Ming, there are questions about the possibility of cooperating with MediaTek, because it is a company based in Taiwan and it is possible to use technologies from the USA.
