Η Google announced a small but substantial change in the application of the Camera, in what has to do with face retouching filters.
Η the camera application will now have these filters turned off by default and if the user wishes to use them, the Google will now provide him with more information about the changes that the application will try to make.
The face retouching filters have recently become a controversial issue, with some users complaining about smartphone makers using them excessively without any indication.
Google has conducted several studies to investigate how a user's psychology is affected when these filters are enabled by default, and how it may adversely affect their view of these beauty patterns.
So to mitigate user reactions, the Google will make some changes to the camera application. Face retouching filters will be turned off by default, and the app will also start displaying various descriptive icons and labels for face treatment options.
When the user activates these special face retouching filters, the application will show him, what changes he will try to make, but also how it will affect the overall photo.
These changes, although minimal, are quite significant, and will be made available first in its implementation Google Camera for Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 from today, and we expect that they will soon be available on more smartphones.
