Gionee: Sentenced by a Chinese court for "planting" malware on more than 20 million devices!

However, despite its many interesting devices (which we have presented in the past), Gionee has recently been on the front pages of Dragon Land for… all wrong reasons, as it became known, was officially convicted by a Chinese court because its officials turned out to have offered the company's smartphones with malware who brought money to their company through unregistered and approved ads!

All this, of course, would have happened without her the slightest knowledge users, with Gionee's subsidiary (Shenzen Zhipu Technology) being considered guilty to enter a harmful trojan horse to more than 20 million devices.

The "job" was done through one software update and for a period of about 10 months (from December 2018 to October 2019). It is estimated that Gionee's illegal profits from these ads amounted to 4.2 million dollars.

Three executives of the Chinese company were finally judged guilty, with their punishment touching 3 to 3.5 years, while the relevant fine imposed on them amounted to approximately 30.000$ for everyone.

Of course, these are not the only problems for Gionee, as in the end 2018, its president admitted that he lost a sum of the order of 144 million dollars, playing in the casino!
