Η Microsoft announced that a urgent security update to fix a problem in the browser Internet Explorer, which could be exploited by hackers.
ΤThe security loophole, discovered by a Google engineer, could allow hackers to use Internet Explorer to install malware on unsuspecting users' computers. The hackers are believed to have already set up websites-traps through which they "infect" the visitors who use this program.
Η Microsoft made it known that the problem concerns versions 9 to 11 of Internet Explorer and advised frequent browser users to "download" the security update to their computer.
The company usually releases such updates on a monthly basis, but the seriousness of the problem and the fact that it has already been "exploited" by cybercriminals, led the company to release the update promptly, according to the BBC.
Use of Internet Explorer, once the most popular in the world, has dropped significantly (to about 8% of users) as many now use Microsoft's new browser, Edge.
