eBay: Prepares to invest € 1 million to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Greece

eBay launches it "Always Open" program, planning to invest up to 1 million euros in Greek companies, while giving them the opportunity to open for free their own online store within the platform, without paying a commission.

ΜIn this way, the company aims to help small businesses cope with the difficulties they are experiencing due to the coronavirus crisis.

At the same time, the company offers training and support services, in English and Greek, by its top representatives. Thus, the owners of companies that open new stores on eBay will benefit by enjoying unique privileges.

Ο Ilya Kretov, General Manager for eBay Global Emerging Markets:

The crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic pushed entrepreneurs to look for new ways to grow their business. From our data it seems that exports are one of them, with the number of sellers participating in the platform having increased by 20% compared to March. At the beginning of the year, we launched the Export Revival program to help Greek companies start selling in a global market. Dozens of them participated in the educational process and now successfully continue their international trade.

Greece is a top priority for eBay, as it has significant prospects in terms of its export activities and unique products to share with the rest of the world. So far, the platform has 12.000 active Greek sellers, many of whom have been active on eBay for over a decade. Today we would like to help SMEs even more to overcome this crisis and share their stories with the public. With our new program "Always Open on eBay" we aim to support Greek companies, giving them the opportunity to grow regardless of the challenges they face now or in the future.

The continuing crisis and global bans as a result of the coronavirus have negatively affected many businesses - especially small and medium-sized ones. In this context, eBay mobilizes in order to help Greek companies, offering them unique privileges and a specialized support system for the creation of new online stores, for those who do not have the ability to keep their physical stores open during this period. EBay's goal is to make this process faster, making it as smooth as possible.

EBay offers the following for free privileges:

  • Training and specialized support system: company representatives teach salespeople how to open their own eBay store and sell their goods online.
  • EBay undertakes commissions: Sellers will be able to open their store for free and without paying commissions, for a quarter.

At the same time, there is one more common good for all new and existing sellers through the eBay platform. By subscribing to the eBay Store, they can create free list of 50.000 products, until July 31. More information on energy can be found here.

In addition, eBay has updated its sales policy and protected its sellers, thus helping businesses during this crisis. More information can be found here here.

Businesses interested in participating in this new initiative and receiving free support, enjoying the benefits, can register here.
