Τ2019 is here and it seems that with it come the folding smartphones, with the Chinese screen manufacturer BOE revealing a demo of a folding AMOLED screen with the smallest dynamic bending radius in the world, according to the company.
The questions about the practicality and technology of folding screens for this new type of smartphone are many. It makes sense for many to wonder how many times a screen will withstand folding, how it will work when folded and unfolded, and whether it will be completely flat or the folding mechanism will be visible.
China-based display maker Boe has unveiled a foldable screen demo with the world's smallest dynamic bending radius, reaching 1mm. This screen is AMOLED technology, has a resolution of 2048 × 1536 pixels, deviation time 1ms, brightness 380 nits with the folding mechanism working quite smoothly and not being very visible when the screen is unfolded.
Finally, there will be a big question about how many times the user can fold and unfold these screens, with the BOE stating that this screen will be able to withstand 100000 times, something that should be determined in the long run and after the official release of the first folding smartphones.
