Android 10 Q: See what new Android Q brings us from Google.

In yesterday I / O developer conference η Google gave more details about its next release Android, the operating system currently used in more than 2,5 billion devices.

Η company did not name the initial letter 'Qso for now we refer to it as Android 10 Q.

The Android Q will arrive with foldable support (folding) mobile, adapting the UI to different screen sizes and switching between them while allowing you to continue working when you "unfold" the phone from where you left it when you "folded" it. It's no surprise of course that the Q will also come with a built-in 5G support.

Google is updating them gestures this year, which means we will finally get rid of the navigation bar. They will be full screen gestures like in MIUI. The Live Caption is a new feature based on AI. Live Caption works for any media that plays audio throughout the operating system and gives subtitles: video, podcast, audio. Once the speech is detected, the subtitles will be displayed automatically. No internet connection is required and no data ever comes out of your phone.

With AI you will also have the feature Smart Reply. Ready-made responses will work perfectly for all messaging applications, providing helpful suggestions for answers or actions. For example, if you receive an address in a message, you can tap the notification to go directly to Maps. You will not need to open the messaging application in advance. There is also no data leakage from your mobile.

Comes dark mode (dark subject) at last. Activated when you select battery saving or manually. Not only does this change the UI of the system but it also selects the dark theme of the applications that support it.

Security and safety updates

Android Q includes almost 50 new features focused in security and privacy. How important it is is clearly shown in the Settings as the choice is very obvious now. There are tools for more transparency around the holder's location as this is also very personal information. There are detailed settings for everything.

With the new one Project Mainline, some operating system components will be updated in the background. This is done through Google Play, without requiring a restart or a full system update from your phone manufacturer. This obviously allows faster security updates but it remains to be seen how they will be implemented by the manufacturers. The data is quite incomplete at the moment, as to exactly which parts of the operating system will be updated in this way. Although Google has moved forward with Project Trelo with the goal of updating non-Pixel phones faster with great success, there are still companies that are delaying their upgrades.

Function Focus Mode autumn is coming to Android Q and Android 9 Pie. The feature allows you to turn off updates from specific applications when you want to focus on a task so that they do not bother you.

Parental control Family Link will be included in the Settings on every device that has the Digital Wellbeing feature, starting with Android Q. When you set up a device for a child, Family Link links your account to the child's account. It allows you to control applications, operating time, view an application's usage time, and set bedtime. On Android 10 Q, you will also be able to set time limits on specific applications and give your child a period of use as a bedtime bonus.

Android Q beta is available today for 21 phones from 13 different brands, including all Pixel devices.
