H Apple, created an online tool, which records the changes in travel and human habits, after the restrictive measures brought by his pandemic coronavirus.
Η Apple, aims to help public health authorities ensure that people comply with the measures.
The new tool (Mobility Trends Report) initially covers 63 countries (compared to 131 of Google's respective tool), including Greece, for which it shows a 63% reduction in walking and 68% in driving between 13 January and 13 April.
However, it also reveals that in our country the decrease in transportation had reached its largest decrease on April 4 and 5, but since then there has been a gradual increase in both hiking and car travel.
Apple's tool is based on the use of the map on all iPhone devices and, according to the company, does not violate the personal data of users, as it does not associate Apple Maps data with the identity of users, nor does it keep a history of where it went each user.
At the moment, the Apple tool, which is updated on a daily basis, records the changes in only three categories of travel: on foot, by vehicle or by public transport (here there is no estimate for Greece). Its corresponding tool Google includes more options (shops, parks, offices, etc.).
In general, however, the two tools seem to give similar images for the individual countries.
Apple has less data available than Google, which uses data not only from every Android device, but even from Apple iPhones, which have Google Maps installed, according to RES-EAP.
