Today comes a new warning coming from CyberNews research team, which presents a list of camera applications that have billions of downloads in total, but which may steal your data and at the same time infect your devices with malware and ads.
The team focused on the so-called "Beauty Cameras" (beauty cameras), which usually by using some special filters, improve selfie photos, but also add funny emoticons or various animations.
But behind all this, as warns cybernews, They steal your data and infect you with unwanted and malicious ads, redirecting you to phishing sites or even spying on you. "
It may seem unbelievable, but that's exactly what happens. The team analyzed the top search results for applications “beauty camera" on Play Store, and as described in her report by cybernewsThe BeautyPlus (which is from Meitu - and we're waiting to see the company's response) for example, which is the most popular application with 300 million devices already installed, "detected as malware or spyware", and its developer allegedly collects data on servers behind China from where it is sold.

As we see so often, most of these applications come from China, and several of them are associated with the same network of developers who use a common code and data interception methodologies.
More applications just means more downloads - more users - more data and therefore more profits for themselves.
If you've not suspected any of these free apps with countless downloads so far, then take a look at the permissions you are being asked for, as this is the biggest risk you run.
These applications often seek access to your data, your contacts, your camera, and even your phone. And as you can see, this way they gain access to your data, perhaps just to sell it and target you with ads, as soon as you unknowingly give them access to what they are asking you to do.
