H Xiaomi had begun testing at Android Q for devices My 9 and Redmi K20 PRO from July, and today took the next step by distributing the first ROM in the official Chinese BETA Developer Version 9.8.8.
ΌSo those who have Original China ROM on their device will receive the update to local authorities through the MIUI upgrade application. As far as Global ROMs are concerned, they will be slow enough to receive the firmware update, as Xiaomi has reportedly stopped distributing Developer Beta ROMs for global releases.
Android Q-based MIUI will not bring about drastic design changes, but it will offer greater security and privacy, with stronger controls on app permissions, even for applications running in the background.
