Η Xiaomi enters dynamically in their space e-readers, and is ready to release its first e-reader (e-ink) at 20 November.
H Amazon's Kindle series is the most popular e-reader series in the world right now, but there are other big names like the Barnes series and Noble's Nook Glowlight, as well as the Kobo eReaders in Canada.
The announcement was made on Weibo today from its official account Mijia, and revealed to us that the new eReader will be available from the crowdfund platform, like many of the company's other products.
An eReader sketch posted shows it will have quite thick wreaths around the screen, and a button at the top. There are no buttons on the side beams as we have seen in some other e-readers, and this means that all manipulations will be done from the screen.
We do not know if Xiaomi is preparing its own e-book library or working with existing providers. We also do not know if it will support audiobooks.
If it eventually supports audiobooks, it should have a headphone jack, or Xiaomi may override it and let you connect the device to a speaker or Bluetooth headset.
Another feature we hope to see in Xiaomi eReader is that it has IP certification that will make the device safe for use in the pool, on the beach or in the bathroom.
Like other Xiaomi products, we hope this will be very affordable.
