Xiaomi: Puts an end to 4G Smartphones and focuses only on 5G

According to a report o CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun stated that the company will focus on the release of 5G enabled smartphones.


Το 5G is the new high-speed network that is gradually entering our lives and companies are increasingly focusing on launching more products that support the new protocol.

Since the beginning of the year, Xiaomi has launched 5 new 5G smartphones. In addition, the CEO said that the end of 2019 marked the end of 4G smartphones of the company and how every effort is made to make the transfer to 5G. THE Lei Jun noted that Xiaomi warehouses are empty because of the pandemic that has hit the planet.

It is true that the pandemic delayed the release of 5G, but we did not change our strategy and continue to promote 5G smartphones.


At this point we should mention that Xiaomi is expected to be released later this year 10 new 5G smartphone while the investment in 5G and AIoT will exceed 7 billions of dollars. Finally, the CEO of Xiaomi mentioned three important applications of 5G. First, 4K and 8K videos will become widely known. Secondly, high bandwidth as well as low latency will rapidly increase the development of cloud gaming and thirdly, autonomous driving will receive more attention.
