A new Xiaomi patent was leaked today, for one SIM Card which also works as a memory card (SD Card).
ΌAs shown in the picture, the front of this memory card has all the necessary circuits found on an SD Card, while on the back of the card we see that it is a standard SIM card.
So this card will have communication and storage functions at the same time, combining two in one use.
At the end of last year, the Ziguang Guowei worked with China Unicom to create a card super 5G SIM card. Compared to standard SIM cards, this one has a maximum storage capacity of 128GB and supports backup and data recovery and has transaction security.
This will be a new type of SIM card that Xiaomi may be trying to promote, and that will support both communication and mass storage features. This way Xiaomi will meet the needs of users for extra storage space on their Smartphones, without the need for an additional port on the devices for the SD Card, and the manufacturers will be able to use this space for other functions.
At the moment, the combination of memory cards and SIM cards may be the development trend of SIM cards and memory cards in the future, but it is not yet clear if the Xiaomi will apply these patents to some of its upcoming devices, and it's worth the wait to see if it ever reaches the market.
