Xiaomi: Introduces two new foldable patents that we may never see on the market

Η Xiaomi has patented two new designs foldable smartphone in China.

ΤThe designs have been registered in CNIPA (National Intellectual Property Administration of China), and both are quite interesting as they are different from what we have seen so far from the company.

The first design shows a phone that reminds us of the Huawei Mate X, a bit. The device folds horizontally and outwards. When folded the camera is on the back and is vertically aligned. The camera has a whole vertical bar on the left, as you can see. This part of the device separates from the screen and is the thickest bezel of the phone. When the device is unfolded, the camera - which has two sensors - looks forward and is to the right of the large screen. At the top and bottom of the phone there are extremely thin bezels.

The second diploma patent shows a vertically foldable cell phone. This device does not resemble the Motorola RAZR as it folds outwards rather than inwards. When closed it has very thin bezels on three sides, bottom, left and right. At the back, the vast majority of the panel is covered by a screen.

At the bottom there is a thicker bezel. Inside the screen at the back we will find the dual camera unit. Although it looks impressive, we do not find this design at all convenient, as when it opens, a huge elongated mobile phone appears.

The first plan is likely to become a reality. The second we do not see going into production - the diploma was probably put in to have the design as an archive.

Xiaomi had demonstrated a foldable mobile phone. The design was strange, the sides of the phone when it was open folded back. Eventually the design became stable with a huge screen and was announced as Mi MIX Alhpa. The company can talk about an upcoming foldable phone at MWC 2020.
