But now naturally, we eagerly await Xiaomi's response, and that's because as always, the Chinese tech giant strives to provide quality devices that are equipped with high-end technology, at a much lower price than its competitors.
So far, however, we have not received any official confirmation from Xiaomi about the launch of a foldable smartphone on the market. Although the company showed us its own version of a foldable Smartphone last year, we haven't had any other news on this front until now.
Today, once again, the company has made a patent for a new foldable smartphone.
The new patent was found in the database CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) and presents us with one more of the company's proposals in the field of foldable Smartphones.
This new patent shows us a device that, when opened to the outside, reveals a huge screen with minimal bezels and no hole or notch.
This device is somewhat similar to Huawei Mate XS, which when unfolded reveals the narrow unit that houses the cameras. This unit consists of a quad camera setup, a flash, a microphone and a key. Probably, the key is pressed to unfold the screen.
In addition to the above, this is her new patent Xiaomi shows us that the device will have two buttons on the right side that will be for the on / off function and for volume control. There is also a microphone on both the top and bottom of the device, while at the bottom, we see the presence of a port USB-C and a speaker.
In an interview he gave to Android Authority, The Ross young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, reported on some new foldable smartphones expected to be released this year. He mentioned the Samsung Fold 2 but also a new device from Huawei, and when asked if we will see a foldable smartphone from Xiaomi, his answer was positive.
In fact, he mentioned that Xiaomi will very soon present a foldable Smartphone in the second half of 2020.
In our opinion, a Xiaomi foldable smartphone will be a great opportunity for the company at this point in time, since Huawei cannot use its services Google Play, and a Smartphone billed at 2.500 € without Google's services it leads with mathematical precision to commercial failure. Xiaomi can use this opportunity to launch something great, and at an aggressive price.
Xiaomi, as it has already shown in the past, always tries to make top-notch Smartphones at the lowest possible cost, and it is certain that it will follow the same aggressive pricing policy in its new foldable Smartphone, when hopefully it will be officially released.
