The message that the company has posted on Weibo begins with the phrase «We noticed that some of the owners of our devices who do not know the whole truth, were worried by the reports on Social media that state that "Xiaomi Smartphones will no longer support Google GMS". We believe that it is necessary to clarify this situation in order to avoid false information».
Xiaomi claims that the Support Group on the Xiaomi Community Forums is not the official representative of the company. This means that any information provided by this group may not be considered official. In addition, Xiaomi emphasizes in this announcement, that the information that has been spread about Google services on the company's phones in China, is completely incorrect.
Until now, Xiaomi Smartphone owners in China have been able to install Google Services on their own devices. But now what really changes is that this will no longer be possible, and the company (Xiaomi) itself must have pre-installed these services on the devices in order for them to work properly.
For all Smartphone models that already have Google services, the situation will remain the same and Google GMS will continue to have them. Xiaomi claims that in the future, it will release more smartphones with Google services pre-installed in China.
As for Xiaomi phones that have been released outside of China, EVERYONE will be able to install Google Services, and absolutely nothing changes for the International versions of the devices.
