The president of Xiaomi, Lu Weibing, finally confirmed to us that the Mix Fold 3 is slated for release in China next August
Earlier rumors that had been circulating indicated that Xiaomi's next foldable smartphone, the Mix Fold 3, will be released in China on 2st quarter of 2023, but until today there was no official statement from the company
Earlier this week, the president of Xiaomi, Lu Weibing, finally confirmed to us that the Mix Fold 3 is slated for release in China next August.
According to the comments made by Lu Weibing on Weibo (through GSMArena), the Mix Fold 3 will be the first smartphone to be mass-produced by the new Smart Factory. Another important piece of information revealed by the president of Xiaomi, is the fact that the Mix Fold 3 will be equipped with cameras manufactured by Leica.
The collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica started with 12S Ultra, which was the first Xiaomi phone to feature lenses from Leica. Since then, Xiaomi has released several other smartphones that feature Leica lenses, so it's no surprise that the Mix Fold 3 will pack Leica cameras.
As for the rest of the device's specifications, the Mix Fold 3 is rumored to be powered by the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and will have periscope lens at the rear with 5x optical zoom. Design-wise, the Mix Fold 3 is expected to be thinner and lighter than the previous model.
Unfortunately though, the Mix Fold 3 is very likely to follow the same pattern as the Mix Fold 2 and remain exclusively available only in the Chinese market. So, we don't expect Xiaomi to release the Mix Fold 3 globallys, although some pleasant surprises may occur.
