Xiaomi MIX Flex: New incredibly beautiful 3D Renders from LetsGoDigital!

Xiaomi's patent features a revampable foldable Smartphone, which can be folded twice and will have a triple camera.

Σthe beginning of this year, the Xiaomi posted a video on the internet, in which one appeared Folding Smartphone.

The amazing thing about this device was the double wrap, on the left and right side of the screen, where it could be folded backwards. The LetsGoDigital then he had designed a series of 3D illustrations of Xiaomi's foldable smartphone based on the video that was published.

It's been almost six months since then, and you still can't buy it Samsung Galaxy Fold or Huawei Mate X, and many other Smartphone manufacturers have so far not presented any proposal of their own.

Xiaomi foldable Smartphone with updated design

Recently, however, a Xioami patent was released, which can give us more information about the improved design of the company's foldable Smartphone. In March of this year, Xiaomi filed a patent in the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office), which was published on 5 August 2019. Seven sketch drawings are included showing the device from all sides.

Just like the model unveiled earlier this year, Xiaomi's patented foldable Smartphone has a large, flexible screen that can be folded down twice. To get a better idea of the differences between the two cell phone models, h LetsGoDigital has again produced a series of 3D illustrations.

The first thing that will impress you is the thickness of the device. The dimensions of the sketches have been used to give the most realistic result possible. However, the foldable phone is significantly thicker than it first looks. This can be explained below. Finally, in such a device several components are packed.

What is also impressive is the back, which features three cameras mounted vertically to each other. Because the cameras are mounted in the center, you must first fully unfold the smartphone before you can take pictures.

As this is a design patent, the specifications of the sensors that these cameras have are not mentioned. Xiaomi's latest flagship models are also equipped with a triple camera, with the second camera having an ultra wide (wide angle) lens, and the third being equipped with a 2x zoom telephoto lens. Whether Xiaomi will want to use a similar installation for the foldable smartphone is unknown at this time, but such an approach is certainly not unthinkable.

If you unfold the phone completely, you have a large screen with very small screen bezels. There is no visible Selfie camera and whether it will be placed behind the screen is unknown. Xiaomi has already said that it is ready to deliver a device with an In Display camera, and because the company usually pays a lot of attention to the selfie camera, it will definitely have an implementation that will satisfy its fans.

The back of the case is slightly curved on all four sides, which ensures a particularly elegant look when folded. There is a USB-C port on the bottom of the device, but it seems that the 3,5 mm headphone port is completely missing.

There is also no key in the attached sketches. Buttons were also not visible in the teaser video that Xiaomi had posted before, so it might be a smartphone without any buttons at all, like the Meitu Zero and Vivo Apex 2019. Also, the fingerprint scanner is not visible in the sketches, so we assume that it is placed behind the display.

The sketches do not show which side or sides you can fold this phone over, because the patent sketches only show the device in the open position. It seems likely that you can fold the left and right sides of the screen backwards, just as the demo video at the beginning of this year showed. Samsung has already patented one phone model .

But if we look at the hinge, it seems that it will also be possible to fold the device in another way, so that the screen folds inward. This will be ideal when you carry the foldable phone with you, so that the screen remains optimally protected. So LetsGoDigital has included both possible rendering folds.

There are no known specifications for the battery, but since Xiaomi introduced the 100 Watt charging technology in March of this year, it could be that this revolutionary phone will have this incredibly fast charging system. This will make it possible to fully charge a 4000 mAh smartphone battery in just 17 minutes.

In addition, it seems that the Xiaomi foldable phone will also have 5G support. Xiaomi has already introduced a 5G smartphone, the Mi Mix 3 5G. In addition, the Chinese manufacturer has already stated that it wants to introduce affordable 5G smartphones in 2020, making it very likely that the foldable phone will also offer 5G support.

It is still completely unknown when Xiaomi will present the first foldable Smartphone, but it is certain that we will see it soon. Maybe MWC 2020 is the right time to do that. If all goes according to the competitors' plans, both the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X will be released next month. Both models have a very high suggested retail price of € 2000 and € 2300 respectively, so the question is how many will soon be willing to buy these foldable smartphones.

Xiaomi, on the other hand, is known for pricing its top models on the market at a much more affordable price. For example, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, which will be available in the Netherlands from next week, will have a starting price of just € 430 for the model with 64GB of storage. For the 128 GB you will pay only 20 € extra. Both versions run Android 9 and are powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset with 6GB of memory. Even OnePlus is no longer able to market its flagships at such a competitive price.

If Xiaomi can market its own foldable phone for a reasonable amount, e.g. 1500 € instead of the 2000/2300 € that its competitors have, then surely the market of folding Smartphones will acquire a new dynamic.

Lenovo is expected to introduce a foldable smartphone soon, with a design similar to the Motorola Razr. Unlike the aforementioned foldable phones, this device will have an elongated screen (clamshell model) instead of a wide screen. Nevertheless, it is generally expected that the Motorola foldable phone will also become a much more affordable price than the devices that have been introduced to date. We are talking about a price around $ 1500 USD.

As for the name of Xiaomi's foldable phone earlier this year, Lin Bin, co-founder and CEO of Xiaomi, announced via Chinese social media that two names are currently being considered - the Xiaomi Dual Flex and the Xiaomi MIX Flex. However, the company was still open to suggestions, so it is possible that the device will be released under a completely different name.
