Finally MIUI 11 (Developer) upgrades - MIUI 12 is coming!

Today the Xiaomi in its official forum for China, announced the release MIUI 20.3.23 will mark the end of updates for MIUI 11 China Beta ROM (Weekly Developer ROM).

Η Xiaomi has been officially released The MIUI 11 in September 2019 in China, followed by the global distribution (Global ROM) in October in India.

MIUI 11 brought new features such as the new minimalist design, the Blur App Previews , the  quick answers , the new dynamic sound effects, the  Share me , Floating Calculator, Update Me File Manager, Steps Trackers and many more new features.

The distribution of MIUI Beta Developer ROM is done every week for tech enthusiasts who want to be one of the first to receive the new features in their devices, but the company suspended completely the program for MIUI Global Beta last July, while the update program continued to be available only in China.

Today, Xiaomi announced in its official China forum that MIUI version 20.3.23 will mark the end of the MIUI 11 China Beta ROM (Weekly Developer ROM) updates.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi shared officially a teaser (Poster) for MIUI 12, in which it indirectly stated that the upcoming MIUI 12 will bring more visual changes to the UI (User Interface) compared to MIUI 11. The new suspension of MIUI 11 in China for Beta Developer ROM, suggests that Xiaomi will finally start developing MIUI 12.

This year (2020) coincides with the 10th anniversary of MIUI, so we expect Xiaomi to pleasantly surprise its users and fans with the release of MIUI 12 sooner than we would expect.

When can you expect to get MIUI 12 on your device?

Xiaomi has probably already started the development of MIUI 12, but even if Xiaomi manages to release MIUI 12 in its China Beta Developer version by next quarter, devices that "wear" MIUI Global Stable ROM should not wait for an update in MIUI 12 for their smartphones before the 4th quarter of 2020.

Will MIUI 12 be based on Android 10 or the upcoming Android 11?

No, MIUI versions usually do not depend on current versions of Android. For example, the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi K20 Pro received the MIUI 11 update, but the Redmi Note 4 runs Android 7.0 while the Redmi K20 Pro runs Android 10.

Which devices will receive MIUI 12?

Xiaomi has not officially announced any list of smartphones that are eligible for the MIUI 12 update, but the company has a good track record of providing MIUI release updates even on low-cost devices and relatively old devices, although we suspect that Devices released from 2017 onwards may not receive updates to MIUI 12, but this is something we will see much later when Xiaomi releases the first lists of devices to upgrade to its new operating system.

If the MIUI 11 updates to the Beta Developer ROM finally stop, it makes sense for the distribution of the Greek XTRV ROMs based on the Chinese Developer ROM from xiaomi.eu to stop.

Then something is wrong with the ROM that your device has.
