On April 2, Xiaomi invited members of the press to visit Foxconn's Foxconn Technology Industrial Park in Langfang.
Εthere are its most important production lines Xiaomi Mi 9. Please continue reading if you are interested in how the Xiaomi Mi 9 is assembled.
The first thing we see is the production line of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) of the Mi 9, where the "components" of the device are placed on the main board. Almost the whole process is automated and performed by robots. The human resources are mainly responsible for the quality control and the filling of the "tanks" with materials.
The telephone chips, resistors and capacitors are mounted on the motherboard according to specific coordinates. They are then subjected to heat treatment in an oven (reflow) to "tie" the components and make the necessary conductive connections between these components and the motherboard. Each production line can produce 8.000 motherboards per day and the subsequent SMT process yields about 10 devices.
After completing the above process, further installation of the motherboard, screen, camera, headset, battery, wireless charging coil and other components of the Xiaomi Mi 9. begins. During this stage of assembly, various checks to ensure that all smartphone subsystems are working properly.
The last step of the assembly process involves placing the glass back of the device on the main "shaft" of the phone. In this final stage, the lid of the device is precisely placed on the rest of the body. After this step, the device is almost ready.
Next, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is subject to p2i process, where its surface is covered with a nano-material, in order to make it hydrophobic. In this way, the mobile phone is waterproofed and any liquid enters the body of the device. The total duration of the p2i procedure is 3 hours.
Before completing its run on the production line, the screen and camera of the device are tested. After the successful inspection, the protective film of the screen and the barcode are placed and the final product is included in its packaging.
The integrated smartphones will then "rest" in the company's storage space, but usually this time is short due to the demand that exists.
During the tour, the two main problems that delayed the production were presented. Firstly, the lack of cameras from Xiaomi suppliers and secondly, the lack of specialized staff.
By the way, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is assembled and manufactured in the factories of three domestic manufacturers: Langfang Foxconn, Nanjing Yinghuada and Xi'an BYD.
