Xiaomi Mi 11: Exceeded sales expectations in China - 1,5 billion yuan worth of devices sold in just 5 minutes

Just as planned, Xiaomi's Mi 11 went on sale in China from today, January 1, and the device has already sold out.


Το My 11 is the first flagship in the world to be equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, and of course immediately became the attraction for all tech fans in China.

The device is also accompanied by an extremely decent price which starts from 3999 yuan (~ 612 $ / 499 €), as much as the Mi 10 had when it was first released, which further boosted demand, with the result that the popularity of the device in China skyrocketed.

Xiaomi made the official announcement of the sales results for the Mi 11 at 00:13, just 13 minutes after the start of the first sales. According to the information provided by the company, the sales of the device in all available distribution channels exceeded 1,5 billion yuan in just 5 minutes. If we calculate that the average price of the various versions of the device is 4.300 yuan, this immediately means that Xiaomi managed to sell in this short time more than 350.000 units device.

Already, the device has been reported as unavailable in the official Xiaomi mall. The company claimed that it was prepared enough to have enough stock of the Mi 11 available, but that apparently was not enough to meet the huge demand.

The My 11 is equipped a convex AMOLED DotDisplay E4 6,81 inch WQHD + screen with maximum brightness at 1.500 nits, refresh rate 120Hz and touch sampling rate 480Hz and supports motion compensation MEMC.

has JNCD 0,38 calibration and uses a special color calibration algorithm developed by Xiaomi. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Foods which offers better resistance to scratches and falls. 

Xiaomi claims that its screen My 11 he broke 13 records through the evaluation received from  DisplayMate, including the maximum brightness for a panel OLED, screen reflectivity, contrast and color accuracy.




Xiaomi's new flagship is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC which is made with lithography technology in 5nm, and is equipped with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and cooling technology VC LiquidCool which takes care to keep the temperature in many critical parts of the device at low levels.

In terms of cameras, the device hosts one 20MP selfie camera below the hole on the front of the screen, while on the back of the Mi 11 there is one triple camera system which includes one main sensor at 108MP with f / 1.85 and optical image stabilization (OIS), a super-wide-angle lens with sensor on 12MP with f / 2.4 and field of view 123 degrees and one Macro camera at 5MP. The device is capable of offering video downloads of up to 8K resolution.

The phone has a glass back powered by a battery 4.600 mAh which supports charging on 55w and that can fully charge the device in just 45 minutes. It also supports wireless fast charging at 50W but also wireless reverse charging at 10W.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the standard version of the Mi 11 for China will not come with a charger in its packaging, but there will be a second bundle version available that will be available in a separate package. GaN charger at 55W. Both versions will be available in China at the same price, allowing users to shop according to their needs, the company said.

So, even though Xiaomi is somehow copying it "environmental awareness" Apple has completely removed the charger and headphones from the packaging of the iPhone 12, but leaves it to the judgment of its customers whether they want to buy the device with or without its charger.
