Lei Jun said that at first he thought only very expensive flagships could use LPDDR5 memory, but due to the significant improvement in production by Micron and the corresponding drop in prices, all the devices in the new series My 10 will eventually be equipped with memory L.
In February 2019, JEDEC released the LPDDR5 memory standard, which is much more efficient than the LPDDR4 standard. From the LPDDR3 the data transfer rate had increased from 3200Mbps to 5500Mbps and could transfer data at a rate of up to 44GB per second.
The president of the Xiaomi group, Chang Cheng, praised Micron for its leadership and innovation in memory, and says Micron's new LPDDR5 memory will be in high demand on the market and will reduce power consumption on the upcoming Mi 10. It will also ensure better and more stable performance on the device.

New L Micron memory provides transfer rates of up to 6.4Gbps, that is, it is twice as fast as L and 20% faster than RAM LPDDR4x, while data transfer speed increased by 50% in LPDDR5. Besides, it consumes 20% less energy than the previous generation. Therefore, devices equipped with LPDDR5 will have a greater autonomy of 5 to 10%.
In terms of performance, the micron Technology reports that while LPDDR4 RAM can be used for 4K and 8K video editing applications and image processing, it does not perform well in AR games, 100MP photos and high-performance video editing.
