Xiaomi launches Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3 in India

Η Xiaomi announced in India the official release of the two entry-level devices - the redmi 7 in parallel with Redmi Y3.

ΕWhile there is little difference between the two phones, both devices serve a wide range of audiences. The redmi 7 is for the everyday user, who is a little more demanding while the Redmi Y3 aims to provide a better camera in the field of selfies.

Redmi Y3 specifications, price and availability

Xiaomi claims to have sold more than 7 million units of the Redmi Y series in India. The Y series was introduced almost two years ago and the Y2 was last year's successful device.

The Redmi Y3 has a 6,26-inch HD + IPS panel with a U-shaped notch (Water Drop). The screen is protected by a layer of Glass 5. Xiaomi has added to this device this beautiful Gradient color that we have in the Redmi Note 7 series. The back of the device has a beautiful curved design.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 632 SOC with octa-core processor and runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie. Moving on to the camera section, the Redmi Y3 features a 32MP Selfie camera on the front that is dual in resolution from last year's Y2. This makes the sensor almost 22,5% larger than the previous one. Xiaomi has also been working on artificial intelligence-based optimizations for better photos, and the Y3 comes with AI Beautify 4.0. In addition, the Y3 auto camera supports Auto HDR, EIS-supported Full HD video recording, 360-degree face unlock and flash. The Selfie camera also offers an 80-degree field of view, allowing device owners to capture larger frame sizes, with more people included.

On the back of the device, the Redmi Y3 has a dual camera setting, which consists of a main sensor at 12MP, with the help of a second depth sensor at 2MP. The rear camera is able to detect 33 different scenes and optimizes the image according to the default functions. It can also record Full HD video at 60 frames per second and supports EIS. In addition, the camera app has Google Lens, but it is not known if it will be installed on more phones.

As for battery life, the Y3 has a 4.000mAh battery that can easily power the device for more than a day of relatively intense use.

Xiaomi claims that the Redmi Y3 can easily withstand continuous use of YouTube for 9,5 hours, Instagram for 10 hours, and that one can continue to play Asphalt 8 for up to 9 hours on a single charge.

To prevent damage from water droplets and rain, the Y3 has a hydrophobic P2i coating, and waterproof seals on all its doors.

Xiaomi has announced two variants of the device, so we have the Redmi Y3 with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage priced at Rs 9.999 ($ 144) and a model with 4GB + 64GB storage priced at Rs 11,999 ($ 172). The first sale of the device is scheduled for April 30 from 12 noon at the Mi India Store, Amazon India and Mi Home.
