Realme vs RedMi: Xiaomi feels insecure, says RealMe CEO Madhav Sheth

Η Xiaomi and Realme are competing to become leaders in the Indian smartphone market, with their executives in the "trenches".

ΕIt is a fact that the Xiaomi and Realme are in an open "war" between them for the Indian market, which is the fastest growing smartphone market in the world.

Realme started operating in India last year as an Oppo Sub-Brand before becoming an independent entity. The company is basically copying Xiaomi devices in some way, offering competitive features at an affordable price.

This strategy helped Realme become the fourth largest smartphone brand in the country in just six months, and is expected to enter the top three by next quarter.

While Xiaomi and Realme are vying for dominance in the mid-range smartphone segment, the company's CEOs often engage in a nasty word war between them.

In an interview with ET , The CEO of Realme india, Madhav Sheth, claims that Xiaomi, which is currently the leading smartphone maker in India, feels insecure about RealMe's success in the market.

O sheth made this statement in response to a tweet from him Manu Kumar Jain, Chief Executive Officer Xiaomi India, who stated that the  Redmi Note 7 is better than Realme 3 Pro.

Ο sheth had responded to this tweet Manu Kumar Jain, saying “someone is scared".

In the same tweet, Jain had pointed out that the Redmi Note 7 Pro used a newer processor, the Snapdragon 675, while the Realme 3 Pro used the older platform of the Snapdragon 710, and as he mentioned "We never commented on their device (Xiaomi). We commented on the despair and insecurity they have about a new product. Being number one, you are trying to fight a brand that is just showing up. I can feel you are insecure ".

Sheth went on to say ET . “You (Xiaomi) keep trying to convince yourself that the 6 Series chipset is better than the 7 Series, and you focus all your energy on it, bypassing the user experience", He added.

So the battle between Xiaomi and Realme is now turning into a nasty war of words between Xiaomi India CEO Manu Jain and Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth.

Realme's strength is growing, and the company became the first to sell 6 million devices since its entry last May. Xiaomi, on the other hand, is growing rapidly in India, but sales of its smartphones have dropped significantly in its domestic market.

"Xiaomi, as market leader, will have to redesign market strategies to stay on top", Said o ET, Mr . Prabhu Ram.

It is now a given that this war between the two gladiators for the Indian market will intensify in the coming months, with Xiaomi trying not to lose significant market share, and RealMe on the other hand trying even harder to acquire larger share, and why not "steal" the Xiaomi crown.
