The United States Department of Defense (DOD), added Xiaomi to the blacklist of companies allegedly controlled by the Chinese military.
ΣIn response, Xiaomi vehemently opposed the allegations and denied any involvement in the Chinese military.
Xiaomi has been added to the blacklist since United States Department of Defenseν, and according to National Defense Law of 1999, this means that all American investors will be forced to sell their shares or holdings in the company by 11 November of this year.
This blacklist, however, is not the same as the list of entities to which HUAWEI last year. This list of entities that HUAWEI has entered prevents the company from purchasing components or even receiving software (Google Services for example), from which any company or company of American interests.
It is not clear at this time whether Xiaomi will be added to this list of entities in the future.
Xiaomi has denied all of these allegations, claiming that the company is not affiliated with or cooperating with the Chinese military, posting an official announcement, which you can see below.

The company confirms that it is not owned, controlled or affiliated with the Chinese military, and is not a "Communist Chinese Military Company" as defined by the NDAA.
The company will take appropriate measures to protect the interests of the company and its shareholders. The company is examining the possible consequences of this in order to develop a more complete understanding of its impact on the Group. The company will make further announcements, as and when needed.
