Xiaomi is reportedly ditching MIUI as the name for its own “operating system” and preparing to launch the new "HyperOS" or "PengpaiOS"

The news that the Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new operating system named Mios, which according to the recently released rumors, will make its debut together with its Smartphones Xiaomi 14 series.

Something like that though doesn't seem to be 100% accurate, as it is revealed today, the Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. has already filed a new application for the registration of various trademarks including "Xiaomi Pengpai", "Xiaomi Hyper", "Xiaomi Surge", but also the "Redmi Hyper".

These brand names, in addition to Smartphones, will also cover a wide range of devices belonging to various categories, including operating systems and programs.

Currently the registration of all the above trademarks remains pending, and Xiaomi is awaiting approval from the relevant Ministry of China. This suggests that Xiaomi might use one of these names for its new operating system, rather than the Mios that leaked a few weeks ago.

Xiaomi has already registered it as a Domain MiOS.cn, but there is a serious snag, as the Domain Name MiOS.com has already been claimed by Ezlo, a company specializing in Smart Home devices.

Although the final choice of the name that Xiaomi's "new" operating system will have has not yet been confirmed, new information coming from the xiaomiui.net show that the company has chosen to be called "HyperOS" or "PengpaiOS".

The MIUI as a trade name will continue to be used in markets outside of China, while the "HyperOS" or "PengpaiOS" it will be used in devices that will be released exclusively in the domestic market.

Essentially, we will not be dealing with a new Xiaomi operating system, but with new names that will be used in China, and MIUI will continue to accompany all Smartphones that will be released in China Europe – America – Africa etc.

The MIUI 15 already being tested on Xiaomi 12t for Europe, and will later become available for all users in the global market, while the new "HyperOS' or 'PengpaiOS' will be exclusively available for all users in China, without there being any significant ones differences in features between the two versions.

The reason for this unexpected change in the naming of its operating system is unknown, but this approach is not uncommon, as some smartphone manufacturers are accustomed to changing the names of their interfaces according to regions.

For example, the Vivo it uses two names specifically for the Chinese and global markets. In China, it uses the name Origin OS, while in the global market, it uses the name FuntouchOS, and these two interfaces are based on Android.
