Mi Watch: OTA Update coming soon that fixes the problem with slow charging and e-Sim

One of the big problems with the new We Watch were the slow charging speeds that had.

Η Xiaomi has announced its first smartwatch, the We Watch two weeks ago, and being a relatively new product category for Xiaomi, users reported some problems with the watch.

Today, the product manager of the ecological chain Xiaomi (MIJIA), Cheng Liang, answered questions about problems with We Watch.

One of the big problems with the new We Watch were the slow charging speeds. Users were worried if this would be a permanent problem. However, Cheng Liang said that soon We Watch will receive via OTA an update around the beginning of December. So it looks like a problem that exists in the software and not in the hardware.

Unfortunately, we can not confirm now whether this update to the Local Government Code to be distributed on December 3 will include fixes to the problems. This first OTA update for the Mi Watch will also optimize the various features, including first pairing, app purchasing, call buying, notifications, and input method and weather location.

Another question was about the eSIM of the Mi Watch, as various telecommunications operators in China, such as China Telecom, have not yet activated eSIM networks in China. Thus, Mi Watch users can not use eSIM services in the country, which was one of the reasons why the new foldable Motorola Razr 2019 Smartphone was not released in the Chinese market.

However, Liang said eSIM services are expected to be available from Chinese providers around mid-December. Once these become available, Xiaomi will enable eSIM support for the Mi Watch via an OTA update. So users do not have to do anything on their own to activate these services.

The Xiaomi Mi Watch runs Google's WearOS platform with the MIUI Watch on top of it. It is essentially almost a mini Smartphone that enables you to make and receive calls (via eSIM), connect to the internet and even run applications such as WeChat and DiDi.

Despite its striking resemblance to the Apple Watch, the Mi Watch seeks to establish its own identity through its software and features.
