According to Mr. Jain, retailers have been found to have purchased fake Mi Store licenses and online resale licenses!
Η Xiaomi's five-year presence in India was an exciting development for anyone who saw the company shyly enter an unknown space, until it managed to become the top company in sales for 2018. Its success is mainly due to an aggressive strategy of low prices on -line and off-line (store) purchases. We have presented your sales model extensively in the past. Xiaomi's success has unfortunately also attracted fraudsters, who have set up a masterful scam in the country with the Mi Store!
FRAUD ALERT! I have come across scam where few retailers have been bought into fake franchises @ XiaomiIndia Mi Stores!
Shocking to see forged documents, with my fake signatures.
We have filed a case with cyber crime department & police is investigating this matter. pic.twitter.com/AbK6Pvfbei

The CEO of the company in India, Manu Jain, alerted the public through social media. According to Mr. Jain, retailers have been found to have purchased fake Mi Store licenses and online resale licenses! The CEO showed the fake franchise contract, while admitting that he had already opened a store, which they found and closed. Unfortunately he did not inform about how a consumer can detect fake stores, nor how he will find out if the product he bought is genuine and has a guarantee.
My request to all retail partners: please do NOT fall for scams!
