Xiaomi is working on a high-end smartphone with a 48MP camera codenamed "Cepheus", which has now appeared in the Geekbench reference database.
ΗXiaomi is going to launch the first smartphone with the name Redmi with 48MP camera later this week in China . However, it was recently discovered that the company is working on a high-end smartphone with a 48MP camera codenamed "Cepheus", which has now appeared in the Geekbench reference database.
As can be seen from the Geekbench smartphone listing, it will be powered by the latest version of Qualcomm, the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC. The device achieved a score of 3,475 in the single-core and 10,872 in the multi-core test. In terms of memory, however, the Xiaomi 'Cepheus' does not seem to be as impressive as some of the other upcoming flagships that will be powered by the same chipset. It will come equipped with "only" 6GB RAM. However, we expect Xiaomi to offer variants with higher RAM for the same device. In terms of software, the smartphone will most likely be released with MIUI 10 Android 9 Pie.
According to information recently discovered by XDA-developers, the smartphone will have a 48MP main camera. In addition to the 48MP main sensor, the smartphone is expected to have a secondary sensor with a lower resolution. While the basic hardware specifications of the upcoming flagship have not yet been revealed, they are expected to feature a fingerprint sensor under the screen, as well as support for Always on Display.
Xiaomi is currently rumored to be working on two upcoming smartphones: the Mi 9 and Mi MIX 4. There is a strong possibility that the "Cepheus" could be the Mi 9 or even the Mi MIX 4. Last year, Xiaomi released the Mi MIX 2S before the Mi 8, so there is a good chance that the Mi MIX 4 could become official before the Mi 9 this year.
