Strange rumors surfaced in China today - via Weibo - and forced a Xiaomi spokesman to respond to clarify the situation.
ΟThe rumors started on Weibo, and they wanted the Chinese company to work out a scenario according to which it would publish a list of approved applications for its mobile phones, while at the same time it would block the installation of unauthorized applications!
The news wanted a new feature being prepared by Xiaomi - initially for its handsets available in the Chinese domestic market - that would block the installation of unauthorized applications. This feature could be useful for Xiaomi in China, since there smartphones come with Chinese ROM, without Play Store or Google App Services and it is not possible to control unauthorized applications by Google. In this way Xiaomi could ensure the stability and safety of Chinese models.
The representative of the Chinese company, however, answered timely and negative, stating that such a thought is not currently in the plans of the company.
