Η Xiaomi officially released the new one charger GaN 55W, which will be available at 99 yuan (~ 15 $ / 12 €) from 1 January 2021.
EXiaomi officially launched in China yesterday its new flagship My 11 with prices starting at 3999 yuan (~ $ 612 / € 499). However, one of the most important events of this announcement was the revelation by the company that the standard version of the Mi 11 will not include the charger in its package.
To fill this gap, the Xiaomi officially released the new one charger GaN 55W, which will be available at 99 yuan (~ $ 15 / € 12) from 1 January 2021.
Like the other GaN chargers on the market, the new charger GaN 55W by Xiaomi is manufactured using gallium nitrides semiconductors. The use of gallium nitride semiconductors has the advantages of excellent thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, resistance to acids and alkalis and significantly reduces the size of the charger.
The charger Xiaomi 55W GaN can provide fast charging to 55W for the Mi 11, as well as fast charging support for Mi 10 (30W), Redmi K30 Pro (33W), Redmi K30 5G (30W) etc.
Xiaomi's original intention was to support environmental protection by reducing the supply of chargers to each device, but it did not follow exactly the same policy as Apple.
Xiaomi offers the new Mi 11 in two options: a standard version and a package version (package version). The version of the package is equipped with the GaN 55W charger, while in the standard version the charger is absent. Prices remain the same in both versions at 3999 yuan (~ $ 612 / € 499) for Mi 11 with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB.
Xiaomi justified the removal of the charger from the standard version of the Mi 11 as a necessary move for the need of environmental protection, but left the choice to its own customers to choose whether or not they want the device with the charger, and did not follow Apple's policy of removing the charger from the news iPhone 12, and forces its customers to charge him extra if they need him.
Xiaomi has already released some chargers that are compatible with the Mi 11, such as the charger for the Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Extreme Edition, and there is also an additional charger Mi 65w GaN already on the market, which can also charge 55W on the Mi 11, so if one already has such a charger one might prefer to follow in Xiaomi's footsteps and buy the Mi 11 version without the charger.
