Today this DxOMark announced its results review he made on the Xiaomi 12T Pro in photo, video and zoom quality


Το Xiaomi 12T Pro is Xiaomi's latest flagship, with an impressive spec sheet, and is one of the first Smartphones to use the Samsung's 200 MP camera.

Particular emphasis has been placed by Xiaomi on the performance and design of the camera, but apart from the 200 MP main camera, the device comes with a modest camera system consisting of one UltraWide camera at 8MP and one Macro camera at 2MP, along with the front one Selfie camera at 20MP. Xiaomi promises strong low-light performance from these sensors.

The Xiaomi 12t pro underwent a series of tests through the DxOMark, to evaluate its performance in photo, video and zoom quality from an end-user perspective. In this article the DxOMark it analyzes how the device fared in various tests and in several sharing scenarios, and aims to highlight the most important results of the tests done with a snippet of the data recorded.

Device specifications for cameras

The Basic Specifications of the Camera:

  • Main Sensor : at 200MP 1/1,22-inch, f/1,7 aperture lens, PDAF, OIS
  • UltraWide Camera : 8MP 1/4,0-inch sensor, f/2,2 aperture lens
  • Macro camera: at 2MP, f/2.4 aperture lens

Advantages (+)

  • Good exposure and nice colors
  • Good detail in bright light and indoors
  • Decent detail and good exposure in flash shots
  • Good detail in close-up telephoto shots in bright light and indoors
  • Good exposure and wide dynamic range in video
  • Very good texture/noise compensation in video, even in low light
  • Effective video stabilization

Disadvantages (-)

  • Limited dynamic range
  • There are Artifacts, including Ghost, and problems with halo and hue shift
  • Overexposure in night shots
  • Limited dynamic range in preview
  • Lack of detail in ultra wide shots
  • Abrupt exposure changes in video, especially when a face is detected
  • Video white balance is not stable in motion
  • Video autofocus failures, especially in low light
  • Inconsistent sharpness with camera movement in video mode, especially in low light and indoors

Summary of tests – conclusion

With camera rating DXOMARK 129, the Xiaomi 12t pro it delivers decent performance for a device in its class, but it can't keep up with the other best Smartphones mainly because of the slightly limited dynamic range in photo mode and the very noticeable exposure and white balance adjustments in video. When using the zoom function, images lack detail at the telephoto zoom settings.

Still images show high levels of detail, pleasing colors and good exposure in all light conditions. Overall, the device is even better at shooting videos than photos, scoring better in video than other Xiaomi flagships like the 12 Pro and 12S Ultra. Video strengths include good low-light exposure, wide dynamic range, good detail, and well-controlled noise.

It is also interesting to note that it has similar zoom performance to the 12 Pro but without the telecamera unit.
