Today Lu Weibing, its general manager Redmi and vice president of the Xiaomi group, explains why we have not seen her 100W fast charge devices.
ΘMaybe everyone remembers her Xiaomi which had introduced us to its new wired charging technology in 100w in March last year. In fact, in the video he presented to us, our company showed a Smartphone whose battery (4.000mAh) was charging from 0-100% in just 17 minutes.
Since then we have not heard anything new about this technology, and there were many who believed that the We 10 Pro will be one of the devices that will have it available. But as we already know, the Mi 10 Pro has already been confirmed to support wired charging only at 66W.
Ο Lu Weibing, general manager of Redmi and vice president of the Xiaomi group, confirmed to Weibo that we will be a little longer to see the 100W charging of Xiaomi on a device, and explained the reasons.
This expectation comes largely from the limitations of the technology, both in terms of security and its practical application. The first problem reported by Lu is that the capacity of a battery with fast charging at 100W causes it to lose about 20% of its dynamic capacity.
This results in a battery of 5.000mAh to be converted into a 4.000mAh battery, and this is not acceptable, as stated by Land Weibing. And since the 5G power requirements of the new Smartphones are much higher, it is better to have a bigger battery instead of a faster charge.
Safety is also a major concern for Xiaomi, as multiple additional circuits will have to be integrated into the device to ensure its operation and protection.
In short, the new 100 W fast charging technology is somehow still immature to be applied to commercially available devices, but that does not mean we will not see it in the future.
So, based on the above, do not expect to see this technology on your devices soon, and maybe it's better for all of us and for the companies themselves, since Samsung's injuries from the leaking batteries are still fresh, and in no case would we want dangerous devices to come into our homes.
