Vodafone: Acceleration of fiber optic network development (FTTH) project

Η Vodafone Greece announces acceleration of the investment program for the construction of new generation home networks (Fiber to the Home - FTTH) with the aim of expanding them to even more places in Greece.


Σincluding in its design new areas, which had been left out of the previous major digital infrastructure project of the period 2016-2020. The purpose of the investment program is to accelerate the digital transition of Greece, as the Vodafone will be able to interface up to 2024 over 800.000 households and businesses with FTTH networks and with high-speed services, but also with networks FTTC.

In particular, the Network Management and its technical teams Vodafone during this period they build new generation networks in its areas Of Athens, As the Nursing Home, Kypseli, the historical center, Koukaki, Pagrati and Neos Kosmos, while construction works of FTTH network are carried out in its center Piraeus and Acharnes. Corresponding tasks are implemented in Thessaloniki, Greece (historic center and Eleftherio - Kordelio), but also in Patras, Ioannina, Volos, Veria and Kozani.

In the next two years, Vodafone will proceed with the construction and development new FTTH networks and other Urban Telecommunication Centers in Athens, Thessaloniki, Volos, Kozani and Ioannina, covering the inner rings, while it will include in its investment plan the coverage with FTTH of areas that were left out of the original plan.

Thus, at the end of the investment program, Vodafone will have privately owned FTTH network and FTTC which will allow 800.000 households and businesses to have access to new generation services and will contribute to the digital transition of Greece, through an investment program of € 600 million for the development of the best digital services and infrastructure in Greece.

On the occasion of the acceleration of this investment program, the President and CEO of Vodafone Greece, Harris Broumidis said:

In the past years Vodafone has been a catalyst for the development of fiber optic networks at home and we are really proud that today we promote cutting-edge technology projects on a large scale.
